Project Life | week 5

Writing a blogpost in the train..? Why not?! Some of you might already know this, but I am extremely busy with my thesis at the moment. I am trying to finish it within 2 months and getting my degree within 3..

My thesis is part of the reason why I started Project Life this year. I am at the end of my student life and getting my degree this year, which is kinda important;) Something I want to document, along with the ideas of buying a different home, and starting a 'real life'.

Anyway, that's the introduction to week 5! It has nothing to do with the spreads I made this week, but I wanted to say it anyway! Haha.

So here is week 5. I wanted to go for plain and simple this year with mostly black and white, but (4 weeks in 2015) I decided to add some color after all.. I just love colors too much.. I still keep it simple but with pops of color this time..
And I did an attempt to create my own PL cards. I loved the one with the dots but I couldn't find a matching card. So I used embellishments all over the place and created the card with the golden heart.

For this spread I used mainly my Midnight kit, a card I made out of 12x12 paper (the polka dot one) a card from the Daydreamer mini kit and a card from a kit I can't remember the name of (that's the one with 'love these moments'.)

I also decided to do a 'day in the life' on every last day of the month, so that id added in here as well..

Enjoy!

10 things I love right now..

Some of you might know me a little better, maybe through Instagram or just because we are friends. But for those of you who don't know me too well, I wanted to do a little 'who am I?' blogpost.
So here it is. 10 facts about me and the life I am loving right now.. And I decided to exclude anything craft related. Gosh it was hard! Haha..

They are not in the right order, although number 1 and 2 are definitely my all time number 1 and 2!

1. God
I am crazy in love with Jesus! Which you've probably already figured out through my blog (why else would I blog about bible journaling right?) or IG, but it's true. There is nothing more important in life than my relationship with Jesus. I wouldn't be here without Him and I just love Him.

2. My husband
Obviously I love my husband. He is the only one who knows me better than I know myself. He is the better half of our relationship and in our 4 years of marriage, I have learnt so much from him. God did so well, by choosing him to be my man! He is my best mate (the link to number 3;))

3. Australia
Australia became my weird obsession in the last few years. I've always dreamt of a life in Australia and I still do. The country just stole my heart, and I don't know why.. We did a road trip through the country in the Summer(July August) of 2014 and it was the best holiday ever! No better place to be, than in Australia if you'd ask me.

4. Church
This obviously has to do with number 1, but I love being in church. I love to worship, listen, read and talk to my friends and family. Just one of my happy places.

5. Friends
What is more important in life than to have great friends around you? I am lucky enough to have some truly special friends, who support me in everything. I know I can call them whenever I need to and they know me so well. Even when they are on the other side of the world, I know I can always count in them. I love my friends!

6. Reading
Something I don't do often enough, but want to do every single day. I love reading, and I love to read a real book. There is something about reading books that is kind of magical. I also have the bad habit of starting 5 books at the same time.. But if it's interesting enough, I'll finish it.

7. Socializing
If you know me personally, you know I talk.. A lot! I just love to talk. It can be a bad habit, because I sometimes talk too much.

8. Food
I know I like food, I always have. But when one of my colleagues pointed out to me the other day that I mostly (she said always..) talk about dinner, baking or just food in general, I knew it was getting bad. So I guess it's fair to say, I love food. I am currently passionate about eating no refined sugars, and I tend to talk about it all day (or at least half of it).

9. Interior
One of my weaknesses is interior. I keep buying things, even though our house is way too small . And I am constantly thinking about what I can change.. Right now, I need all our furniture to be white! But that could change next week.

10. Babies
One of the things I absolutely love, is babies. I mean, who doesn't love those cute little human beings!? My sister recently gave birth to twins, and my sister in law has given birth to a baby girl a few months back. They are so cute! I could look at them all day:)
Someday I hope to have a cute little human being of our own.

So, that's what I do at this time of my life and what I think/talk about most of my time. Some of these will never change, while some of them might.. But at this moment, I am pretty happy with our/my life and I wouldn't change a thing. (expect for our dark dinner table.. that should be white..)

Project Life | week 4

I worked on my 4th spread last Tuesday, but didn't get a chance to update my blog. But, here it is!
I received a picture from our little niece, and I immediately knew I had to go for a pink layout.. So here it is!

I used lots of cards from different kits this week. They are from:
- the Daydreamer mini kit (the grid card, and the two cards on the right.)
- the Gold Foil set of Heidi Swapp (which my awesome friend Laura sent me last week :)) (the golden arrows and the embellishment)
- Laura Rahel design (the quote card 'this is life and right now it's amazing')
- Midnight edition (the date)
- Watercolor Value Kit (the one with the flowers!)

Bible Journaling

Today I spent some time with Jesus and my bible again. I love to do this bible journaling! It's such a great way to spend your quiet time!

I decided to work on one of my favorite verses. I have so many BIG dreams (and I mean really big!) and this verse keeps me focused on what is important, which is Jesus and the kingdom of God. He is what it's all about. (While I write this, I listen to a song of Bethel, whom sing literally: 'This is all about you')

I am still trying to work on my watercoloring skills, but until then I keep using examples. I try to create something similar to the example. Sometimes it works out fine, sometimes it doesn't! Today it looks ok, although I don't really like the big flower.. But I'm learning!

So the supplies I use are all photographed as well. I use cheap watercolor, but it works out fine! I only wish I had more colors to choose from.
I use Micron Pens. They don't bleed through, but you can see it on the other side of the page. I found out there is no way to avoid this..
While I paint or write, I keep a sheet between the page and the rest of the bible, just to be sure it doesn't bleed through.

Well, I just hope you like it, because I do!

Crochet | babyblanket

As you might have read on my 'Crochet Projects' page, I am currently working on a babyblanket.

When one of my former colleagues had a baby girl we visited her with the team and I immediately fell in love with her nursery. It was just gorgeous! So I decided to go for the same look whenever I would be lucky enough to be pregnant. It was plain and simple with lots of white and a few touches of colors, including a 'rainbow' blanket.

Now, before you start congratulating, I am NOT pregnant! Hopefully it will happen someday, but not yet;) It doesn't mean you can't buy/create things yet right?! Nothing wrong with some preperation!

So, I am working on a blanket. I had quite a bit of yarn left over from my large blanket (Stylecraft DK) and wanted to create something with it. It is not enough for a big blanket, so it becomes a babyblanket. I made it around 90cm wide and will see where I end up. Probably around 100cm.

The pattern is super easy. It is a ripple blanket which I made with the pattern of Lucy from Attic24. I love it!

Enough talking, let's show some pictures!

Project Life | Week 3

This week I didn't take a lot of pictures, simply because it was dark and grey most of the time. The weekend was full with separate activities, so no coffee picture either. What we did have, was one very nice and bright day with 12C! I obviously had to take a picture and printed it to fit the entire page.

All the cards I used were designed by Laura! I only added a die cut from Heidi Swapp and some Washi Tape! Oh, and I used an overlay on top of the 12x12.

Project Life | week 2

Yesterday I worked on my second spread for Project Life.

While orientating on Project Life I decided to go for plain and simple in my lay-outs. I found out it's harder than I thought. But I need to remind myself that it is not about the most amazing spread every single week. It is about documenting our life and remembering those everyday moments.

So the spread looks quite alright. I am still not completely happy with it. But I'll get to that point some day.

Lots of love,

X
